This week, she visited Atchison, Kan., which is the birthplace of Amelia Earhart, the first female aviator to attempt flying around the world. The house in which Earhart was born has been transformed into a museum, showcasing various items and pictures.Earhart spent much of her childhood living with her grandparents in the home."She stayed here longer than any one place the rest of her life. Because after here they moved to Des Moines, and that was the beginning of many moves," museum curator Louise Foundray said.

Nice to see some effort

I think Patty Moore's story in the Atchison Globe shows that you're ready for leadership, Jack.

Unfortunately, others on the city commission aren't quite so ready. It sounds like they're just postponing the inevitable in waiting to raise water rates - typical government leadership I've seen in the past 6 years of covering various groups as a reporter. Nobody wants the blame, but everybody wants the credit.
